Fifth Anniversary of the Shenandoah Valley Tapestry

Please join us for an afternoon of tapestry history, stitchers’ stories, fun quizzes, prizes for the winners, tea and cake celebration. This amazing community embroidery was stitched in 2014-2018 by 81 core stitchers including 6 children. 1400 people took a stitch. The tapestry recreates in needle and thread the well-known painting by Page Huff Dillon. It shows 34 historic buildings of Winchester and Frederick County, tells stories from the book Defend the Valley by Margareta Barton Colt.
