Empty Shelves? Food System Resilience during COVID and Beyond with Dr. Scott McClure

Join Dr. Scott McClure in the first presentation of our Summer Lecture Series. Dr. Scott McClure was born in Winchester before growing up in Northern Virginia. After receiving Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Food Science from Cornell University he spent over five years in the food industry developing granola bars and flavored almonds. After that he pivoted into Public Health earning a PhD in Epidemiology from Johns Hopkins School of Public Health as well as a Graduate Certificate in the Food System Environment and Public Health. Since 2019 he has been serving as an Assistant Professor of Public Health at Shenandoah University where he teaches a variety of courses including Human Nutrition Food Systems and Community Nutrition. His research currently focuses on helping the Blue Ridge Area Food Bank to better understand the needs of those experiencing food insecurity in our area.
