First Friday

First Friday is back this week and the weather couldn’t be better! So let’s take a moment to recap what to expect and what you can look forward to if you join us on Loudoun St. this Friday night:

Every first Friday of the month [while the weather allows it], we host local artists, live music, sip & stroll, special events, and more in the heart of Old Town Winchester.

From 5-10 PM, you can expect a casual and laid back event atmosphere while our special open container license, Old Town Spirit, is in effect. This means you can purchase an adult beverage at any participating restaurant, bar, or brewery on the Pedestrian Mall or Boscawen St. and then carry it outside with you to walk around, enjoy the music, or even drop in to your favorite retail stores to sip while you shop!

From 6-8 PM, enjoy a free open air concert at the Taylor Pavilion. This month, Shade Tree Collective is joining us to put on a folk and bluegrass show for all ages! Bring your own lawn chair or sit down directly on the grass, or call ahead for reserved stageside seating at the Wine Room at Taylor Pavilion or Macado’s back patio with the best seats in the house. Remember, you can buy your drink anywhere to enjoy outside, so there’s no need to choose between after-dinner drinks or taking in the show!

We’ll also be offering free bicycle valet service at the Pavilion for cyclists who want to try a new way of commuting downtown, courtesy of Bike Walk Winchester. Don’t worry about finding a bicycle rack or locking it up somewhere while you shop and enjoy the evening–leave it with the valet and it will be safely supervised and returned to you whenever you’re ready to ride back home!

Local artists will be out doing live art or simply showing off their wares, busking along the Mall, and perhaps even giving you a chance to purchase something unique and extraordinary! This month we’ll have local musicians, visual artists, and the theatremakers all using the Pedestrian Mall as their canvas.

You can also find all sorts of special opportunities going on at business all throughout Old Town–ranging from live music performances to extended hours, food and drink specials, or unique opportunities, so be sure to explore and try somewhere new! We know you won’t regret it!
