Old Town Holiday Parade

November 27, 2017

|Recurring Event (See all)

An event every day that begins at 3:00 am, repeating indefinitely

Celebrate the fun and excitement of the holiday season in Old Town Winchester. Bands, floats, and specialty units along with Santa will be coming to see you. Don’t forget the tree lighting ceremony, immediately following the parade.

The Old Town Christmas Parade begins at 7pm and lasts until about 8pm. The Parade will feature over 70 floats (the largest to date), specialty units and marching bands to celebrate the holidays. The annual Tree Lighting Ceremony with Santa will take place immediately following the parade on the Loudoun Street Mall in front of the 1840 Courthouse Museum. Approximately 2,000 people are expected to attend the parade.

The parade will take place unless there is severe inclement weather (no rain date).

Parade Route: Piccadilly at Cameron to Braddock to Cork at Loudoun

Parade Parking: The Winchester Parking Authority will offer parking at the four downtown garages for $5 (cash only). The only restriction is at Braddock Autopark: Patrons will not be able to exit Braddock Autopark during the parade. There are no restrictions at the three other garages.

Road Closures: The following streets will be shut down by 6:00 pm and will reopen immediately following the parade:

  • Cameron Street from Fairfax Lane to Monmouth Street
  • Piccadilly Street from Cameron Street to Braddock Street
  • Braddock Street from Piccadilly Street to Cork Street
  • Cork Street from Braddock Street to Kent Street
  • Boscawen Street from Braddock Street to Kent Street
  • Indian Alley from Piccadilly Street to Cork Street

Traffic will be diverted one block from each of the closures.  Parking restrictions go into effect at 4:00 pm in areas marked with “No Parking” signs.

The City is thankful to the Host Lions Club who provides volunteers each year to assist with the parade line up and the Winchester Parks and Recreation staff who manages the parade.
