Sunday Concerts at the Taylor Pavilion

September 18, 2016 @ 1:00 pm - 3:30 pm

John KirbyOld Town Winchester is proud to announce the last Sunday Concert of the season will feature a tribute to Winchester’s own, jazz legend John Kirby on September 18th at the Taylor Pavilion from 1:00 pm to 3:30 pm. The Sunday Concerts are presented by Partlow and Erie Insurance.

Remembered for leading a jazz sextet, Kirby became a common name in jazz history. Starting at a young age, Kirby learned the trombone, and eventually switched to the tuba and double bass throughout his career. The ensemble will be performing both classic covers and original pieces. For more information on the Shenandoah Conservatory John Kirby Tribute Sextet, contact Robert Larson at (540) 665-4557 or rlarson@su.edu.

This year, the Sunday Concerts include horse drawn carriage rides, hosted by Shenandoah Carriage Company. The rides will pick up in front of the 1840 Courthouse and cost $7 per person. An Old Town Hospitality Association member will be sharing historical points of interest along the way.  The horse-drawn carriage rides will be offered from noon to 3:30 pm, weather permitting.

This event will not be postponed in the event of rain. The Taylor Pavilion provides coverage for attendees and the stage is covered as well. Make sure to check out the various shops and restaurants before, during, and after the performance. There will be ample convenient parking available in the Braddock Street garage. Patrons are encouraged to bring a picnic for lunch or enjoy one of the many shops and restaurants that Old Town has to offer.

This event is coordinated by Full Circle Marketing for the City of Winchester.
