Old Town Winchester would like to congratulate Bell’s Fine Clothing for 85 years of business!
October 19 & 20th Bell’s Fine Clothing will be holding a special celebration to showcase their newly renovated store at 122 N. Loudoun Street and celebrate their 85th anniversary.
Founder Sam Shendow saw something special in Winchester in 1929, at the height of the Great Depression. The tailor came to from nation’s capital to make custom suits for the city’s residents.
“Each time the resourceful Shendow arrived in Winchester, he slipped the postman 25 cents to spread the word that the clothier from Washington D.C. was in town to take orders for custom-made suits,” According to Bell’s website. “His plan was to invigorate his store’s sales by building a client base away from the capitol.”
Shendow used the Hotel Jack as a makeshift office, but by 1931 his business in Winchester was successful enough to open his own store. Three generations later, Bell’s Fine Clothing is still family owned and operated, offering quality, hand-picked clothing for men and women. The store recently finished a massive renovation and is poised for another 85 years of business.
Stop in to Bell’s Fine Clothing at 122 North Loudoun Street to see the renovations and celebrate 85 years of high fashion in Old Town Winchester!
