Haunted Halloween Scavenger Hunt: Special Haunted Halloween scavenger hunt for the whole family! Purchase your tour map with clues at the Old Town General Store (106 S. Loudoun Street). Walk through Old Town and find “Winchester the Friendly Ghost” in each of the locations and receive your treat (one treat per location, per tour map). Turn in your tour map when you’re done and receive a prize! Also, enter to win free ghost tour tickets. Tours are $9.99 per person.

A Savory Taste of Winchester: Culinary Food and Wine Tours: Visit popular Old Town restaurants during this culinary tour hosted by Northern Virginia Tours. Six different tastings will be included on each tour. Each tour is designed to provide a generous lunch or dinner experience. Additional beverages may be purchased separately. The tour departs from the lobby of the George Washington Hotel at 11 a.m. In between tasting, learn about Old Town Winchester’s history dating back to the 1600’s. Adult tickets are $49.95 each (13 years and up), Youth tickets are $32.50 each (8-12 years), and Child tickets are $12.50 each (7 years and under). Group rates available. Call 540-827-9948 reservations. Reservations required by 8 p.m. the day prior to the tour. Please advise of any food allergies when making your reservation.

The Four State Slasher Convention: The Bright Box Theater will host Winchester VA’s very first horror movie convention featuring guests from The Lost Boys, Creepshow 2, Human Centipede and many more! Live music each night after the main portion of the convention! The convention runs Friday and Saturday.

OctoBeer Fest: A taste of Germany is coming to Winchester with the BEI Delivery OctoBeer Fest on October 16th from 5pm to 11pm and October 17th from 12pm to 8pm. The BEI Delivery OctoBeer Fest is being produced by the Old Town Development Board, City of Winchester.This two-day event will celebrate German heritage and bring herren und frauen to Old Town Winchester. Attendees will have the opportunity to sample German inspired food, music, craft beer and wine. The Kings Park German Band will be performing live each day in Shenandoah University’s Feltner Lot and a DJ will be playing all of today’s top hits at the Old Court House Civil War Museum lawn. There will be activities and exhibitors set up from the north to south side of the walking mall. On Saturday there will be two puppet shows at 1:30 pm, and 4:00 pm in the Taylor Pavilion.Advance General admission tickets are $5 and a special advance tasting package is available for $10. The $10 special tasting package includes entry into the venue, 4 beer or wine tastings, as well as a souvenir tasting cup.Day of event General Admission tickets are $10. Extra tasting tickets are available on site: three tastings for $5. Most wines and beers will be available to purchase by the glass for only $5, while supplies last. Tickets can be purchased in person at the Espresso Bar & Café, Old Town General Store, Tri-State Nissan, and Total Image and Workingman’s Store or online here.

Poetry and Coffee Night: Come to Leroy French Bakery on October 16 for a Poetry and Coffee Night! Admission is $5. Coffee and pastries available. 6:30-8:00 p.m. Space is limited. RSVP 540-773-4406.

Old Town Farmers Market: The City of Winchester’s Old Town Farmers Market will run Saturdays from 9 a.m. – 1 p.m., May 16 through October 31. The goal of the Old Town Farmers Market is to provide fresh, local food and agriculture products directly from farmers and producers to residents, while creating an enjoyable atmosphere that contributes to a prosperous downtown and promotes a sense of community in Old Town Winchester. There will be 13 regular vendors on a weekly basis and three vendors who will attend on a rotating basis. The vendors will offer a wide variety of items for sale including in-season fruits, vegetables, artisan breads, cookies, cheese, grass fed beef, gluten free bread, cured meats, jam, eggs, honey and many other items (produce and items for sale may vary each week). All items are grown or produced within a 60-mile radius of Winchester. The market is located at the Taylor Pavilion at 119 N. Loudoun Street, just steps from the Loudoun Street Mall. Historical Cemetery Tours: Come join us from 11am to 1pm as we take you on a journey through the past at two historical cemeteries tucked away in the beautiful Shenandoah Valley. The tours begin at Winchester National Cemetery and continue at Stonewall Cemetery. You have the option of touring one or both cemeteries. $8.00 per person for one tour, $15.00 for both tours.
