Friday, October 17th:

Octobeer FestGateway Funding Octobeer Fest presented by Aire Serv is returning to Old Town! On October 17th and 18th, the streets of Old Town Winchester will reverberate with “Gutan tag!” and “Ein prosit” as we welcome another Octobeer Fest. This two day event is a great foundation for a weekend trip to Winchester. Hugely successful last year, drawing approximately 2,000 attendees, this beer and wine festival brings the spirited celebration of Oktoberfest to the Loudoun Street walking mall on Friday October 17th from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m. and Saturday October 18th from noon until 8 p.m.

Customer Appreciation Day at The Winchester StarCome to the Winchester Star office at 2 N. Kent St. between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Friday, October 17 for Customer Appreciation Day. Between 11:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. enjoy a hot dog, chips, soda, and ice cream free.

Book Signing: Dan Davis – Bloody Autumn & Hurricane from the Heavens: The Winchester Book Gallery will have a book signing at 4pm. Dan Davis is back and will be here signing and discussing his two books Bloody Autumn and Hurricane from the Heavens in honor of The Battle of Cedar Creek’s 150th Anniversary. Come meet the author and pick up some books on some local history!

Live Music at the Winchester Book Gallery: Lost Indian: Lost Indian will perform at the Winchester Book Gallery from 7:30pm to 9:30pm. Lost Indian began in a one room apartment above the local pool hall in Staunton, VA. Old-time tunes fade into gypsy folk with the click of a pedal and the fluid ease of an eagle soaring through the sky. Fresh off a tour and with a brand new album to deliver, Lost Indian will stay with you long after your first listen.

Marv Ashby & High Octane (high-energy bluegrass): From the West Virginia Panhandle comes the hard-driving no-holds-barred bluegrass music of Marv Ashby & High Octane. Marv is joined by some the region’s finest entertainers delivering a top-notch high energy show, showcasing both traditional and contemporary bluegrass genres. This is rural heart & soul at its best!
