Bluemont Concert Series Kicks off July 7th

Bluemont FestivalBluemont Concert Series proudly announces the Bluemont Summer 2017 concerts in historic Winchester. This year, the season will begin on Friday, July 7th. Bluemont’s popular series brings world-class performers to the Old Frederick County Court House (Old Court House Civil War Museum) on the downtown mall in historic Winchester on Friday evenings.

“We are very excited about this year’s wonderful variety of music,” said Lily Dunning Widman, Bluemont’s Executive Director. “All are welcome to join us for this great tradition of world-class music right here in our own community.”

Charm City Junction will kick off Bluemont’s 2017 season in Winchester. From dance-inducing old time rhythms and foot stomping Irish melodies to hard-driving Bluegrass, Baltimore-based acoustic roots quartet Charm City Junction creates a fresh soundscape that keeps listeners on the edge of their seats wondering where they’ll go next. Featuring fiddle, clawhammer banjo, button accordion and upright bass, this quartet isn’t afraid to take roots music to new places — but always with an eye on tradition.

Concertgoers are encouraged to bring a lawn chair or a blanket to sit on, and a picnic to enjoy before the show. All Winchester concerts begin at 7:30 PM. Admission is $5 per person, $4 for Bluemont Friends and seniors, $2 for kids under twelve. As at all Bluemont concerts, no pets please, and neither alcohol or smoking are allowed. In case of bad weather, the concerts are held indoors at the Winchester First Presbyterian Church, 116 S Loudoun St.

Bluemont relies on more than 1,200 volunteers each summer as well as on the support of local businesses and community organizations. If you would like to volunteer or sponsor this summer, please contact Lily Dunning Widman at (540) 955-8186 or email lily@bluemont.org.

Bluemont Cultural Programs and Summer Concert Series have been a part of the fabric of the Greater Winchester area since 1976. Bluemont is currently seeking out local businesses, friends and neighbors to become Bluemont members help assure the organization’s future in Frederick County. Many friends and families have already responded to a recent mailing asking for general support. Every contribution helps.
