Apple Blossom Festival Street Closures and Parking

2014 SABF LogoThe 87th Shenandoah Apple Blossom Festival will be in full swing this weekend starting on Thursday, May 1. Old Town Winchester plays host to many of the festival’s biggest and best events, including the Old Town Midway, the Firefighters’ Parade, the Street Show and the festival’s highlight – the Grand Feature Parade. As such, Old Town will have several street closures and parking situations to take note of.

The Winchester Parking Authority is selling reserved autopark tickets for Friday, May 2nd and Saturday, May 3rd for the autoparks. The tickets are available for $15 at the George Washington autopark main office located at 128 N. Cameron Street. Click here for more info.

The Old Town Midway will once again be taking place on Piccadilly Street and the area just North of Piccadilly. Streets will also be closed for the Firefighters’ Parade on Friday, May 2nd at 5:30pm and the Grand Feature Parade on Saturday, May 3rd at 1:30pm. The Winchester Police Department issued some details of street closure times.

Thursday, May 1st

Street closures for set up of vendors on the Midway start at 5:30pm.  Piccadilly Street and Fairfax Lane from Braddock Street to Cameron Street will be closed. Loudoun Street from Piccadilly Street to Baker Street will also be closed.  Indian Alley will be closed from Boscawen Street to Fairfax Lane.

Friday, May 2nd

Street closures start as early as noon of Friday (mainly Cameron Street) for the parade line up.  The full detour goes into effect at 4pm. From 4:30pm through the conclusion of the Fireman’s Parade NO VEHICLES will be allowed through the traffic control points.  There won’t be any exceptions.

Saturday, May 3rd

The detour route starts at 8:00am and stays in effect until the conclusion of the Grand Feature Parade.  Drivers can expect delays getting through the traffic control points (TCP) from 8:30am until approximately 10:30am due to the 10K race.  TCP’s will only let cars through when there are gaps in the groups of runners that allow a vehicle to safely cross.  From 12:30pm through the conclusion of the Grand Feature Parade NO VEHICLES will be allowed through the traffic control points.  There won’t be any exceptions.
