Handley Regional LibraryBlack History Month Program: The Friends of Handley Regional Library are pleased to sponsor a talk by James “Jim” Nickens as part of Black History Month. The event will take place Saturday, February 22nd at 2pm in the library. Mr. Nickens grew up near Strasburg and took the bus to Douglas School in Winchester during the days of segregated schools. After serving in the military he worked closely with Hale Boggs, Democratic Congressman from Louisiana helping count the votes needed for passage of various legislative bills. He will share many personal stories of working and observing the many politicians, including President Lyndon Johnson, future Presidents Gerald Ford and Bill Clinton. He’ll also tell of the many African-Americans who made a difference in Washington, D.C. In addition to many first-hand stories, Jim will bring in photographs to share. This program is free and open to the public.

George Washington HotelGeorge Washington’s 282nd Birthday Celebration: The French and Indian War Foundation and The George Washington Hotel invite you to join in on the fun, as we “Toast” the 282nd Birthday of Colonel George Washington on Saturday, February 22nd from 6pm to 10pm. The evening will include a Cash Bar with Special Drinks for History Lovers, piano by Kevin Kauki, and toasts to our first President. Dinner will be served in the Half Note Lounge for $33 per person. Call 540-771-2743 for reservations.

Joe BronziCOMEDY NIGHT: Joe Bronzi and Shahryar Rizvi: Kaleidoscope Comedy is proud to present an evening of laughter at Bright Box Theatre with some of the best stand up comedians in the business! This month we feature the hilarious talents of Joe Bronzi and Shahryar Rivzi.The event takes place February 22nd with a happy hour at 6:30, an early show at 7:30, and a late show at 10pm.
