American Artist Lecture at Handley Library: Scholar Nicholas Powers will be giving a lecture entitled “Frederick Kemmelmeyer: From Hessian Soldier to American Artist” at the Handley Library on Saturday, January 18th from 11am to 1pm. “Hollywood on the Potomac” Presentation: The Magic Lantern Theater and the Friends of Handley Regional Library will present on Saturday, January 18 at 2 p.m. an illustrated talk, “Hollywood on the Potomac” by Washington film critic Mike Canning. Using film clips and stills, Mr. Canning will discuss how Washington, D.C. has been portrayed in American feature films. His book of the same title will be available for sale and for signing.
