Winchester’s Last Friday Night LIVE – August 9

FridayNight A1For the final time this summer, on August 9 from 6 – 11 p.m., enjoy Friday Night Live in Old Town Winchester. Friday Night Live (FNL) transforms the Loudoun Street Mall into a lively, fun block party for people of all ages. Two parking lots, Hable and Cork Street, are converted to energetic, music venues that feature some of the best musical acts in the Shenandoah Valley. These two music venues require admission and also feature beer gardens and tailgating games such as corn-hole and ultimate pong. The rest of the pedestrian mall (no admission required) is family-friendly and peppered with various acoustical bands and street performers including street magicians, caricature artists, balloon artists, jesters and much more!

Special event promoter and president of Full Circle Marketing, Dario Savarese, is expecting this final FNL to build off the successes of the previous two. “The past two FNLs were a lot of fun and we had a great turn out for both,” said Savarese. “Since this is the final block party, we’re going all out and I think that everyone who comes to check it out will be very pleased and have a great time.”

Friday Night LIVE will feature a total of six new live bands on the Cork and Hable Lot providing the crowds with country and rock tunes respectively. Advance tickets are $10, however a special promotion is being offered for on-line ticket sales. Use the code OTW and receive $5 off the ticket price.

Booking agent for FNL, Pete Buchbauer, believes that the musical acts performing at this FNL will have patrons talking for days. “This show is going to be a lot of fun for anyone who wants to have a good time and listen to music,” said Buchbauer. “We have an incredible country lineup on the Cork Street parking with a great group of up and comers, from the award winning Creigh Riepe to the great local talents of Britani Myers and Dangerous Mood.”

Creigh Riepe Band Creigh Riepe from Nashville, TN is headlining the Cork Street stage sponsored by Q102. Riepe competed in the CMA Music Festival’s Rising Star Contest, and won first place for Best Original Selection with his self-written tune, “We Can’t Love.” He took home the grand prize in the 2009 Dierks Bentley MySpace vocal competition. Creigh also competed on ABC’s USA Karaoke Champion making it all the way to the semi-finals.

Britani Myers, a Winchester native, will be preceding Riepe. Myers opened up for Leann Rimes at the 4th Annual Patsy Cline Classic at the Patsy Cline Theatre in Winchester, VA. Opening up the Cork Street stage is an acoustic folk duo Dangerous Mood, also from Winchester.

The Last YearBoasting an equally impressive lineup, the Hable Lot will feature top-notch rock acts. “On Hable Lot, our rock bands all bring a unique and different sound that I think FNL fans will really enjoy,” said Buchbauer. “The Last Year is in the middle of a huge media push and will put on one heck of a live show. Father’s Honor had an incredible performance during Rockin’ Independence and I think area residents and visitors are in for a real treat with Red Sammy’s gritty performances. ”

The Last Year, a modern rock band based in Baltimore, MD will be headlining the Hable stage sponsored by 105.5 The Bone. The Last Year combines a varied mix of alternative rock and new wave music to create an unforgettable sound.

Winchester’s own, Father’s Honor, will be supporting them. Father’s Honor fuses various styles and elements of country, rock and roll, punk, indie and alternative to create a truly unique sound. Warming up the crowd will be the Americana rock band, Red Sammy, form Baltimore, MD.
