Rockin’ Independence Eve

Rockin' Independence EveCome enjoy the first annual Rockin’ Independence Eve, an All-American event on the Old Town Winchester’s walking mall on Wednesday, July 3.  Rockin’ Independence Eve celebrates our nation’s independence and is a free family-oriented event that’s fun for all ages.

Father's HonorA stage will feature live musical performances from some of the area’s top musical talents including Father’s Honor and Bugsy Cline and the Blue Devils.  Winchester’s own Father’s Honor created a new genre of music by combining styles and elements of country, rock and roll, punk, indie and alternative. For 16 years, Bugsy Cline and the Blue Devils have been playing a foot-tapping style of funky, bluesy rock music throughout the Shenandoah Valley. They recently won a Battle of Bands competition, and performed at this year’s Apple Blossom concert. Kids will also enjoy a number of different activities and games in association with the Discovery Museum.  The Great American Corn Hole Tournament will provide a friendly competition.   An on-site beer garden will offer folks of legal age adult beverages while they listen to music and watch the Corn Hole Tournament.

Bugsy ClineAt the end of the evening attendees will be treated to a fireworks show.   The fireworks will be launched in front of Mount Hebron Cemetery and will be viewable from several different locations throughout Old Town Winchester.   One of the best viewing areas will be located on North Kent Street near the Winchester Star.

Festivities begin at 5 p.m. and will conclude at 9 p.m.   The fireworks show will begin shortly after the conclusion of Rockin’ Independence Eve around 9:15 p.m.  The downtown fireworks show will replace others, which have previously been held in Jim Barnett Park.

The event is hosted by the Old Town Winchester Development Board, the Winchester Parks and Recreation Department and Full Circle Marketing.  A special thank you to sponsors and community partners, Grand Rental Station, TV3 Winchester, Centennial Broadcasting Radio (92.5 WINC FM, Z 104.9 Fresh Country, The Bone 105.5, 1400 WINC AM), Clear Channel Radio (Q 102, The Fox 99.3, KISS 98.3 ), The Winchester Star, Palmer Media and Johnny Blues Inc.
