Fort Loudoun Day 2013

Fort Loudoun DayWinchester’s French and Indian War Foundation invites you to their annual celebration and hoisting of the British flag at Fort Loudoun. Taking place Saturday, May 18th, the event is a great educational event for children and adults, with tours of the Ft. Loudoun site and a formal program and ceremony.

The event will include tours of the site of Fort Loudoun given by Norman Baker, the well blasted by George Washington and his men, and terrific photo opportunities with reenactors.  Archaeologist Dr. David Clark will be on hand with an interactive display to explain how archeological digs are preformed.  Music and light refreshments will also be provided.

Fort Loudoun Day is free and open to the public.

  • 10:00 am – First Tour of Site Begins
  • 11:00 am – Speaker, Larry Johnson
  • 11:30 am – Essay Contest Results
  • 12:00 pm – Flag Raised

Guest Speaker: “Liberty Man”, Larry Johnson, whose ancestor fought with General Daniel Morgan at the Battle of Cowpens.
