The George Washington Hotel’s Winter Music Series continues on Thursday March 21st with an evening of bluegrass. The event, which takes place in the GW’s Grand Ballroom, will feature artists Springfield Exit and special guest performer Sammy Shelor.
Tickets for the concert are $8, while admission plus dinner costs $15. Linda’s Mercantile pie and coffee will be available for $3. Doors open at 6:30pm; Music starts at 7pm.
Springfield Exit Bio: Springfield Exit was created by three veteran musicians who bring with them a rich variety of experiences. Their music is decidedly their own, with influences of bluegrass, country and traditional folk. Formed in late 2002 by David and Linda Lay along with David McLaughlin, Springfield Exit is now considered one of Virginia’s outstanding trios of singers. They perform original songs and a wide variety of their own arrangements of old standards and traditional songs.
Sammy Shelor Bio: Virginia Country Music Hall of Famer, Sammy Shelor is 5-time IBMA Award Winner for Banjo Performer of the Year, 2011 Award Winner for the Steve Martin Prize for Excellence in Banjo and Bluegrass and has received numerous other awards and recognitions during his impressive career. Sammy currently leads the Lonesome River Band who just celebrated their 30th Anniversary with numerous celebrations and the CHRONOLOGY, VOLUMES ONE – THREE albums.
