Old Town Winchester is getting a boost of energy and enthusiasm with the hiring of a new Downtown Manager. On January 4, the City of Winchester welcomed Jennifer Bell as Downtown Manager. She will work directly with the Old Town Development Board and work to increase the vitality of Old Town Winchester.
Bell previously served as the director of a Main Streets program in Salem, Massachusetts where she began a Farmers’ Market attended by over 3,000 people weekly. She also started a series of events including an Arts Festival and worked on business recruitment and retention seeing over 80 new businesses open in the downtown during her tenure.
“Winchester is filled with friendly people, beautiful buildings, interesting shops and museums and delicious restaurants and a fascinating history, it is the heart of the community,” emphasized Bell, “and I am thrilled to have a role in shaping the future of Historic Old Town Winchester.” Some of her initial projects include promoting Old Town during the mall renovation project, working with Events Coordinator, Dario Saverese, to plan future events in Old Town, and starting a branding campaign for Old Town Winchester.
Bell is looking for volunteers to get involved with projects and OTDB committees. Contact her to welcome her to Winchester or to find out more about volunteer opportunities at (540) 535-3661 or by email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
