The Bluemont Summer Concert Series will wrap up its 2012 season this Friday with a performance by the Mary Ann Redmond band. The concert takes place on the steps of the 1840 Frederick County Court House at 7:30 PM.
This will be the final Bluemont concert of the year, so don’t miss it!
Band Bio: The Mary Ann Redmond Band delights audiences with its soulful rhythm and blues, energy and instrumentals. Already a favorite in the Metro area and winner of 15 prestigious WAMMIE awards (Washington Area Music Association Awards), Virginia native Redmond is winning international acclaim for her rich voice, innovative compositions and passionate performance. Redmond’s WAMMIEs include Best Female Jazz Singer; Best Rock-Pop Vocalist, Best Roots Rock/Traditional R&B Vocalist, Best Urban Contemporary Vocalist and Best Female Blues Vocalist.
Redmond’s talented band includes musicians on bass guitar,drums, and guitar. The Washington DCCity Paper raves “Aretha is the Queen of Soul, Redmond must be considered an official Lady In Waiting,” and the Washington Post notes that “…Redmond can’t help but throw herself into everything she performs with soulfulness and sensuality.”
Admission: While there are no advance ticket sales, requested admission for the events is $5 per person, $4 for Bluemont Friends & Seniors, and $2 for kids under 12. Bluemont is also raising money to support their year-round projects in our local schools, nursing homes, and summer evenings. Inclement Weather: Summer weather can change quickly and is sometimes hard to predict. Always go to the outdoor concert site first; if the concert has moved, proceed to the nearby indoor site at First Presbyterian Church at 116 South Loudoun Street. Decision to move indoors will be posted at site and broadcast over local radio stations.
