Historic Candlelight Tours and Open Houses in Old Town

Three of Winchester’s most significant historic sites – Stonewall Jackson’s Headquarters, Abram’s Delight, and George Washington’s Office – will be holding candlelight tours and open houses this weekend to help celebrate the season.  Get a glimpse into lifestyles of the past that shaped our nation today!

The museums will be open December 2nd from 7pm to 9pm and December 3rd from 1pm to 5pm.

Stonewall Jackson's Headquarters MuseumStonewall Jackson’s Headquarters Museum: Experience a Confederate Christmas at Stonewall Jackson’s Headquarters Museum. The house is decorated for the holiday season and living history interpreters will be throughout the house and museum grounds. Enjoy some Southern hospitality in the house that General Jackson’s wife called their wartime home.

Abram's DelightAbram’s Delight Museum: Abram’s Delight, the oldest house in Winchester built 1754, is decorated with holiday floral arrangements by local garden clubs. There will be a recreated colonial tavern in the 1780s log cabin. Plan to visit the Hollingsworth Mill for cookies and cider!

 

George Washington's Office MuseumGeorge Washington’s Office Museum: The house is decorated for the holiday season and living history interpreters will be throughout the house and museum grounds.
George Washington’s Office Museum interprets the early years of Washington’s life through the exhibit, George Washington’s personal effects, surveying equipment, and interactive exhibits such as a scale model of the town of Winchester c. 1755.
