Create memories with friends & family at the community kick-off holiday festivities. Be dazzled and entertained with lighted festive floats & magical marching bands & Santa, of course! Sing-a-long at the Christmas Tree waiting for Santa’s arrival and help him officially light it for all to see. Bundle up and watch a showing of “Shrek the Halls” movie on the lawn of the 1840 Frederick County Courthouse.
The Old Town Winchester Christmas Parade & Tree Lighting are set for Monday, November 28 at 7pm!
The holiday tradition will kick off at 7pm with the annual Christmas Parade to include our favorite local high school and middle school marching bands, decorated and brightly lit floats, and specialty units making their way through Old Town, culminating in Santa lighting the official Tree on the Loudoun Street Mall. Immediately following the parade, the Movies on the Mall presents “Shrek the Halls,” where attendees are asked to bring their own chairs and blankets.
The parade steps-off at 7pm, at Cameron Street onto Picadilly Street, to left on Braddock Street to left on Cork Street, eventually finishing at the Cork Street and Loudoun Street intersection.
Santa will then make his way down Rouss Avenue for the official Tree Lighting Ceremony.
Hosted by Parade Marshalls the Winchester Host Lions Club. Presented by the City of Winchester.
For safety, streets on the parade route will be closed starting at 6pm, and vehicles on the route will be towed by 6:30.
- Cameron Street, between Cork and Piccadilly, will close at 6pm for the line-up
- Cameron Street, between Cork and Leicester, will close at 6pm for school bus parking
- Streets for parade route will close at 6pm and reopen after parade at approximate 8pm
- Vehicles parked on parade route will be towed at 6:30pm
Inclement Weather: The parade will be held on the day scheduled unless there is severe inclement weather. Weather announcements will be made on local radio and cable stations. There is not a cancellation date.
