Happening This Weekend

This weekend has a lot to offer, including Old Town’s First Friday events and the Patsy Cline Historic House Block Party!

Shenandoah Arts CouncilFirst Fridays Art Walk: On the First Friday of every month, Old Town Winchester plays host to artists with special gallery events, muscians playing in restaurants and cafes, and many of our shops stay open late. It is a great time to stroll our historic streets and a great place to meet new and favorite friends. Every month is something a little different.

SandyGuided Civil War Walking Tour of Old Town Winchester: Experience the Civil War as a civilian in Old Town Winchester! Learn about the citizens and the events that took place in Winchester during that stirring period of time. Make your reservation by calling 540-542-1326, and meet your guide at 2 N. Cameron Street. $5.00 per person, payable to your guide.

WLT The 39 StepsWinchester Little Theatre Presents: The 39 Steps: The Winchester Little Theatre will be kicking off it’s 2011-2012 season with the production “The 39 Steps,” beginning September 2nd.  Directed by Sally Anderson, the play is a comedic take on Alfred Hitchcock’s 1935 film of the same name.  The plot follows Robert Hannay through London after being wrongly accused of committing a murder while Monty Python-esque hilarity ensues.  The Winchester Little Theatre will be running the show during the first three weekends in September.  Tickets are available now from their box office and are $18.75 for adults, $16.75 for seniors, and $14.75 for students.

winchester-city-market_webWinchester City Market: Join us on the Loudoun Street Mall on Saturday from 9am to 2pm as vendors of homegrown fruits, vegetables and homemade jams, baked goods, and more will be set up shop.  It’s a great chance to get fresh food and support local farms and food.   The Market will also feature live musical entertainment.

Patsy Cline Historic House Official Grand Opening and Block Party: Patsy Cline’s husband, Charlie Dick, daughter Julie Fudge, and other dignitaries will cut the ceremonial ribbon officially opening Patsy Cline’s Historic House at 608 S. Kent Street on Saturday, September 3, 2011 at 4:00pm.  The Block Party is free and scheduled between 3:00 – 8:00 pm in front of the Patsy Cline Historic House will feature entertainment by The James Boys.  The house will be open for tours until 6:00 pm. Adults $6.00; Seniors 65+ $5.00; Children ages 11-18 $4.00; Active Military (ID required) & Children under 10 Free.
