Winchester Parks & Recreation is excited to offer the region the 2nd Annual Salsa Fest on Saturday, August 27th. This year the Salsa Fest has a new, larger location and will be held in the OakCrest Companies and Winchester Star parking lot on North Kent Street. This will allow for more tickets to be sold as last year’s event sold out!
Tickets are on sale now and can be purchased at Winchester Parks & Recreation, 1001 East Cork Street.
This year’s event promises to be an exciting and spicy event and local celebrities have begun training for their salsa dance routine. They will be competing for votes from the spectators and the celebrity that raises the most money will win the People’s Choice Trophy! All money raised during the “Salsa with the Stars” Competition will be donated to the WINC Chain of Checks. This year, the dancers will also have the chance to win Judges’ Choice from our esteemed panel of judges from Shenandoah University including Tracy Fitzsimmons (President) who is a trained Salsa dancer, Mary Robare (Shenandoah Conservatory Arts Academy) and Alan Arnett (Assistant Professor of Dance).
2011 Local Celebrities Include:
- Rick Leonard – Winchester Public School Superintendent
- Robert Allen – 92.5 WINC FM
- Victoria Egnew – Valley Health
- Eddie Richard – Richard’s Fruit Market
- Sarah Robarge – TV3 Winchester
